In Very Good condition with a Very Good dust jacket. Purple cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine. Light bumping and shelf wear to edges and corners, some fading to boards. Binding tight. Inscribed and signed by the author in black ink to a previous owner on front free endpaper, dated 5-24-1991; pages otherwise clean and unmarked. Pictorial dust jacket, period photograph collage on a gray ground with red rule lines, shows a few small edge nicks and short tears with light creasing and mild overall shelf wear. Now in an archival quality (removable) Brodart cover.Privately published autobiography of Takewo Takekoshi, an Issei born in Seattle in 1907 and raised in Kushiro, Hokkaido, who emigrated to the United States in the late 1920s. Recounts study at the University of Southern California and New York University, building an accounting practice in Los Angeles, the wartime relocation of Japanese Americans, and service as a Japanese-language instructor at the Army's Military Intelligence Service Language School at Fort Snelling, Minnesota, followed by his postwar return to Little Tokyo. Printed in Japan by Dai Nippon Printing. Includes an introductory appreciation by Hiroshi Uda.
