In Good condition. Tan illustrated paper covers, reproducing one of Reed's stagecoach paintings, with bumping and creasing to edges and corners, moderate overall shelf wear, soiling, spotting, and some color loss along edges and spine. Sticker residue and color loss from a removed sticker on front cover. Binding tight. Sticker residue on inside of rear cover; original price sticker on inside of front cover. Pages lightly toned, otherwise unmarked.An oblong art folio reproducing 20 of Marjorie Reed's paintings depicting an imagined journey of the Butterfield Overland Stage through California, from San Francisco south to the Arizona border, with Reed's narrative text carrying the reader station by station along the Ox Bow Route. Pen-and-ink vignettes and archival photographs of the historic stage stops accompany the plates. Marjorie Reed (1915-1996) was a California painter celebrated for her Butterfield Overland Stage series, which she pursued across several decades; Old Adobe Gallery of Tombstone, Arizona, drew this collection from the original paintings then in the collection of Mr. and Mrs. J. Fred Reeves of Rancho Santa Fe.
