In Very Good condition. Brown ink illustrated paper covers on cream stock show mild shelf wear with a hint of toning to the edges. Binding is tight. Pages are lightly toned, otherwise unmarked. Inscribed in ink on the title page by "Chick" (the book's printed dedicatee, the late author's widow, and herself cited as a personal-interview source in the footnotes) presenting the book to two recipients; a presentation copy from the dedicatee following the posthumous publication.Local Jewish history of Riverside, California, written by Dr. Samuel Reznick (1906-1981), the first psychiatrist in private practice in Riverside and longtime Chazan of Temple Beth El, and published posthumously by the Temple Beth El Sisterhood two years after his death. Reznick dated his foreword March 1981; he died that September. The opening chapter reprints his article "Early Jews of Riverside" from the January 1980 issue of the Western States Jewish Historical Quarterly; subsequent chapters carry the story forward through the development of Jewish organizations, the growth of Temple Beth El, and the postwar expansion of the community. Drawn from newspaper files, city directories, organizational minutes, and roughly two dozen personal interviews with longtime residents, the narrative covers the period from 1872, when the first Jewish resident arrived in the new colony, through the early 1980s. Foreword cites the assistance of Dr. Norton B. Stern, editor of the Western States Jewish Historical Quarterly, and Tom Patterson, the dean of Riverside local historians. Introduction by Norton B.
