In Good condition. White illustrated paper covers show moderate shelf wear, with some color loss and staining along the edges and spine. The thin top layer of the front cover paper has scuffed off along its fore edge. Binding tight. Interior pages clean and unmarked. Original Long Beach Museum of Art gift shop price sticker ($14.95) at the lower left of the back cover.Exhibition catalogue accompanying the show held at the Long Beach Museum of Art, January 17 - March 17, 1991, with an essay by Anne Mochon (University of Massachusetts, Amherst) tracing Jawlensky's development from early Russian Realism through Post-Impressionism and Synthetism to his Expressionism and the late Meditations series of the 1930s. The exhibition drew on the Long Beach Museum's permanent holdings of 36 Jawlensky works, bequeathed in 1978 by Milton Wichner (attorney for the Los Angeles dealer Galka Scheyer, who championed Jawlensky and founded Die Blaue Vier with Kandinsky, Feininger, and Klee), with additional loans from the Flint Institute of Arts, the National Gallery of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts St. Petersburg, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the University of Iowa Museum of Art, and the Busch-Reisinger Museum at Harvard. Includes a full Catalog of the Exhibition listing all 47 works and a scholarly bibliography.
