In Acceptable condition. Tan paper wrappers lettered in red on the front cover. Covers are uniformly and heavily toned with age. A 1/2 inch tear at the top of the spine with associated light creasing. Light bumping and creasing along the edges. Binding is tight. Interior pages are aged and toned throughout but otherwise clean and unmarked.A scarce Los Angeles harbor history pamphlet, reprinting J. J. Warner's account "The Port of San Pedro" from the San Pedro Shipping Gazette, Volume 1, Number 2, Saturday, October 13, 1883, by permission of the Huntington Library. Warner's sketch opens in 1831, when the nearest residence to the port was that of Manuel Gutierrez near Dominguez Station, and traces the early commerce, shipbuilding, and otter-hunting activity around San Pedro Bay, Palos Verdes, and the San Gabriel Mission. Notes on p. 7 document the schooner "Refugio," the brig "Guadalupe" wrecked in 1828, and the brig "Danube" built at San Gabriel and hauled overland to San Pedro.
