In Good condition. Vivid magenta-red paper covers with a few small nicks and chips to the edges, mild shelf wear, and fading with some color loss to the spine and top edges of front and back cover. Staple bound; binding tight. Presentation copy inscribed by the artist in ink on the title page: "Para Obright de Carlos Barragan." Pages otherwise clean and unmarked.Catalog of an exhibition of recent oil paintings by Carlos Barragan (born 1966, Uruapan, Michoacan), a Mexican painter known for hyperrealist still lifes featuring tropical birds, flowers, and animals rendered in a distinctive surrealist idiom. The exhibition was held at Galeria de Arte Mexicano (GAM), Mexico City, in collaboration with Galeria Arte Actual Mexicano, March-April 2001. Includes an introductory essay by Jaime Moreno Villarreal ("Ligereza y pesantez"), 7 full-color plate reproductions of works in oil, and a catalog of 17 paintings. Concludes with an exhibition biography documenting Barragan's participation in FIAC Paris (1999), Art Chicago (2000), and Art Miami (2001), and museum exhibitions at the Museo del Centenario and Museo de Monterrey. GAM, founded in 1935, is one of Mexico's most historically significant commercial galleries.
