In Acceptable condition, no dust jacket. Red cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine; bumping to edges and corners of covers; lettering on spine moderately rubbed but still legible; moderate overall surface wear, scuffing and soiling to boards; nicking and fraying at corner tips and at the top and bottom of the spine; small tear to cloth along the front hinge approximately one inch from the top. Binding firm. Pages toned throughout, but otherwise unmarked, with a few occasional nicks to paper along edges.A biography of Field Marshal Sir Colin Campbell (1792-1863), created Baron Clyde after the Indian Mutiny. One of the leading British military commanders of the Victorian era, Campbell commanded the Highland Brigade at Balaclava during the Crimean War -- famously holding the "Thin Red Line" -- and directed the relief of Lucknow during the Indian Mutiny.
