In good condition. Burgundy and tan paper covers with tan lettering and line drawing; top right corner of cover bumped and creased; light to moderate edge and surface wear with some color loss along spine; binding sound (staple bound); interior pages lightly toned but unmarked with some light foxing to edges of title page.Exhibition catalog of drawings by Jonathan Kingdon drawn from his landmark multi-volume work "East African Mammals: An Atlas of Evolution in Africa," produced in conjunction with an exhibition sponsored by the Zoological Society of London, held in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of Whipsnade Park and the completion of the final volumes of the series. The catalog, annotated with quotations from the text, illustrates the close link between biological thinking and the process of drawing. Introduction by Sir Julian Huxley, First Director General of UNESCO (written for Academic Press in 1971). Kingdon was awarded the Zoological Society's Stamford Raffles Award in 1979 in recognition of his work. Jonathan Kingdon (1935-) is a British zoologist, artist, and author; his multi-volume "East African Mammals" is a landmark in African natural history illustration.
