In very good condition. Orange pictorial paper covers have light bumping and creasing to edges and corners with light surface wear and some toning to spine; staple binding firm; interior pages clean and unmarked. Photographic history documenting the March 10, 1933 Long Beach earthquake, one of the most destructive seismic events in Southern California history. The volume presents contemporary photographs showing collapsed buildings, damaged commercial districts, emergency response efforts, naval assistance, and the restoration of city services in the days following the disaster. Images depict street scenes, destroyed storefronts, radio and telephone operations, military and civic relief work, and major damaged structures throughout Long Beach. Issued by the Historical Society of Long Beach using photographs from institutional holdings, newspaper archives, and private collections to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the earthquake and preserve visual documentation of the event.
