In good condition. Paper covers moderately toned with mild surface wear and price sticker residue to the front cover; staple binding firm; interior pages evenly toned but otherwise clean and unmarked. Facsimile reprint of the scarce Civil War pamphlet originally issued in New York in 1863 by C. A. Alvord. The work provides a contemporary narrative account of the Battle of Gettysburg fought July 1-3, 1863, describing troop movements, battlefield positions, and key engagements including the actions of the Army of the Potomac and Confederate forces under General Robert E. Lee. The narrative draws upon eyewitness reports and contemporary press correspondents and includes descriptions of the opening cavalry actions, the fighting along Oak Ridge and Cemetery Hill, and the climactic engagements culminating in Pickett's Charge. The original publication was accompanied by an explanatory map of the battlefield, which is not present in this facsimile copy.
