Karl Robert Langewiesche Verlag, Konigstein im Taunus & Leipzig, Published date: [1915]. Softcover, printed paper wrappers; XVI, 112, XIV pp; 27 cm. Early printing (1. bis 60. Tausend). Illustrated with 130 photographic and engraved illustrations of German municipal and civic buildings from the 14th through 17th centuries.

Condition & notes

In good condition. Blue printed paper wrappers with decorative geometric border design; light rubbing to edges and corners and mild surface wear; corners lightly bumped. Spine lightly rubbed with minor edge wear; binding remains sound. Small nick to fore edge of front free end paper; early gift inscription dated 28.10.1914 and a "2" both in ink on the title page; interior pages moderately age toned with scattered light foxing, most noticeable in margins; otherwise unmarked. The volume is arranged in three sections: an initial XVI-page section of reproduced historic engraved city views and architectural etchings; a 112-page section of photographic plates documenting major German town halls, guild houses, and civic buildings; and a final XIV-page section entitled "Erlauterungen zugleich Inhaltsverzeichnis," providing explanatory notes and descriptive commentary for the illustrated buildings. Part of the Blauen Bucher series. Survey of significant Burgerbauten across Frankfurt, Augsburg, Braunschweig, Bremen, Dinkelsbuhl, Goslar, Aachen, Wesel and other cities, drawing in part upon Georg Dehio's Handbuch der deutschen Kunstdenkmaler.
