Includes 18 full color reproductions of drawings and paintings by Donald Hamilton Fraser RA depicting dancers and figurative studies. In good+ condition. Original stiff card wrappers have some scuffing to edges and corners with some color loss; mild surface wear. The bound block of postcards has become separated from the outer cover and is laid in; all eighteen postcards are present and intact. Individual postcards clean and unmarked. [From back cover] Donald Hamilton Fraser studied painting at St. Martins School of Art (1949-52) and won a French government scholarship to Paris where his development was greatly influenced by the Ecole de Paris. From 1957 to 1983 he taught at the Royal College of Art becoming a Fellow of the Royal College in 1970 and in 1975 he was elected to the Royal Academy. He has exhibited internationally since the early 1950s. His work has been generally figurative and derived from landscape and still life. He is perhaps best known for his studies of dancers. These reflect his interest in figure drawing and display his supreme draughtsmanship following his theory that ballet and fine art are parallel disciplines. The set contains eighteen different detachable postcards reproducing Frasers dancer studies, each with printed captions and Royal Academy branding on the reverse.
