Illustrated with a black and white photographic portrait on the front cover and numerous original black and white line drawings and cartoons throughout, credited in text to Joan Wood (DD Oregon).
In good condition. Original printed card covers with light overall age toning and mild surface soiling; scattered small stains and spots visible to covers and some interior pages. Small chip to bottom comb of plastic comb binding, but binding is otherwise intact and functional with minor wear. Edges and corners lightly worn. Handwritten name in ink at top corner of title page. Otherwise, interior pages generally clean and unmarked. Privately printed commemorative cookbook created as a personal gift for Helen F. Evers, President of the P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization), and presented at the Supreme Chapter Convention in New Orleans in September 1973. Intended solely for internal presentation and remembrance, the volume was compiled by members of the P.E.O. Official Family and was not commercially distributed. Recipes are attributed to individual contributors and reflect the period s distinctive mid-20th-century American social cooking, featuring convenience foods, canned and packaged ingredients, gelatin salads, and hybrid sweet-savory dishes. The cookbook also serves as a documentary record of P.E.O. leadership, including dedication text, officer lists, committee rosters, and whimsical original illustrations.
