Illustrated paper covers with stylized nocturnal blue design showing a rear view of a seated figure smoking in an easy chair, with an inset photographic portrait labeled "Featured by Ralph Blaine." Cover illustration credited to Im-Ho.

Condition & notes

In good condition. Covers have a few tiny nicks and light overall age toning, scattered surface scuffing, and mild edge wear, with heavier soiling to the rear cover. Interior pages lightly age toned but clean and unmarked. Rear cover contains a Harms Inc. publisher advertisement featuring a musical excerpt from Cole Porter's "Begin the Beguine." Popular American standard closely associated with late 1930s swing and popular vocal performance, widely recorded by jazz and popular singers of the period. Cover artist Im-Ho (also credited as Ho Im or Im Ho) was a commercial illustrator active in the United States during the 1930s and early 1940s, best known for modernist sheet music cover designs for major publishers such as Harms Inc., often combining streamlined graphic imagery with inset photographic portraits of featured performers.
