In good condition. Illustrated paper covers printed in blue with portrait of Tamara Tsereteli; ownership stamp from von Hallberg Libraries, New York City on front cover. Light toning to edges, minor handling wear, small tears at top and bottom of folds. English title (The little gate) written in pencil on inside page (3). Otherwise pages are lightly toned but unmarked. An early Soviet-era vocal waltz ("Valse") composed by A. T. Obukhov as part of the Repertoire of Tamara Tsereteli. Published in Leningrad by the author and printed by the Leningradskaya Pravda press. Price 75 kopecks. Edition of 3,000 copies. A romantic art song typical of the interwar Russian salon style, with lyrical text and melodic piano accompaniment. Rare pre-war edition. [Bottom imprint:] Leningradskaya Gublit No. 32457. Order No. 912. Tamara Nikolaevna Tsereteli (1901-1968) was a Georgian-born Soviet mezzo-soprano renowned for her expressive interpretations of Russian and Georgian romances during the 1920s-1950s.
