Condition & notes

In good condition / no dust jacket. Original cream paper over boards with gilt-stamped medallion device on upper cover, showing profile bust with text "Honos Alit Artes," and gilt lettering below. Covers show light to moderate overall scuffing, age toning, and soiling, with paper chipped at head and foot of spine. Front endpaper split along inner hinge (between paste-down and free endpaper), but binding itself remains solid with no other cracks. Age spotting to top and bottom edges of text block. Previous owner's name and date (July 1909) in ink on front paste-down. Otherwise pages are lightly toned but unmarked. Exhibition catalog issued in conjunction with the Thirteenth Annual Exhibition of Painting at the Carnegie Institute, held in Pittsburgh from April 29 to June 30, 1909. Includes plan of the floors of the Department of Fine Arts, alphabetical entries for participating artists, brief biographical notes, and illustrations of selected works, as well as the list of various honors awarded to the participants in this and in prior years.
