In acceptable+ condition. White illustrated paper covers have nicking, chipping and creasing to edges (looks like some insect damage) and light overall aging, scuffing and soiling. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. NOT Ex-Library. Presents Paul Kane's sketches and paintings from his travels in the Columbia region during 1846-47, along with his lecture text on the Chinook Indians, "The Chinooks." The edition includes Vaughan's introduction, contextual footnotes, and numerous reproductions of Kane's field sketches and paintings. Also includes appended facsimile of Francis Norbert Blanchet's A Comprehensive, Explanatory, Correct Pronouncing Dictionary, and Jargon Vocabulary... second edition, Portland, O.T., 1853 (11 pp.), among the earliest printed Chinook Jargon vocabularies.
