It documents and interprets the rich ceramic tradition of Shiwan (Foshan), Guangdong Province, China, known for expressive sculptural ceramics. Explores the artistic, symbolic, and technical aspects of Shiwan pottery. It includes scholarly essays, a historical chronology, a map, over 100 catalogued pieces with detailed bilingual (English and Chinese) annotations, selected bibliography and an appendix on ceramic seals and signatures.
