Condition & notes

In very good condition. Olive green paper covers with black lettering and illustration on front. Light bumping and creasing to edges and corners of covers and light overall scuffing. Very light creasing to spine but binding is solid. Previous owner's name and date (December 1975) written in ink on inside of front cover. Otherwise pages are unmarked. Published in honor of both the centennial of Burdett, Kansas (1876 - 1976) and the U.S. Bicentennial (1776 - 1976), this locally produced volume compiles a comprehensive social and genealogical history of Browns Grove and Burdett. It includes biographical sketches, local cemetery and church histories, accounts of early settlers, Native American relations, and notable events in regional development. The contents are drawn from oral histories, archival records, and newspaper accounts, covering topics such as the 1880 census, Duncans Crossing, railroads, early schools, churches, businesses, and family histories from the area.
