[From front jacket flap] During his extensive researches for his previous book, 'The Scottish Pistol', Dr Kelvin became interested in the magic world of Jacobite memorabilia. From this turbulent period of Scottish history, objects having possible Jacobite significance are numerous as well as diverse, both in character and type, but until now, no attempt has been made to produce a catalogue of such artefacts. There are a great many examples of locks of the Prince's hair, Jacobite snuff mulls, and other such artefacts, but until now, there has been no attempt made to produce a comprehensive list of these objects, so that the Jacobite enthusiast is quite unaware of the number or indeed the nature, of these surviving articles of our historic past. The book is divided into five categories - Introduction; History of the Jacobite Cause; Memorabilia; Key; Catalogue, and a sixteen page colour section of important items. Artefacts are listed in alphabetical order, with a separate key indicating the source of the items. Inevitably, a catalogue of this type can never be complete. Many items in existence are only known to a few friends and family members. It is hoped that this book will itself act as a catalyst which will bring undiscovered items of Jacobite memorabilia into the public domain. To this end, space has been left at the end of each letter of the alphabet, in order that the interested reader may add other objects other than those already listed
