In very good condition. Brown illustrated paper covers have light bumping to edges and light overall scuffing. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. A detailed chronicle of the prolonged siege during the English Civil War. The original manuscript, preserved in the British Museum, was first published in 1840 by Samuel Jefferson in Carlisle. This narrative offers a vivid depiction of one of England's lengthiest sieges, where the border town of Carlisle, held by Royalist forces, endured intermittent assaults from the autumn of 1644 to the summer of 1645 by a Scottish Parliamentary army under Lord Leven. Includes preface - an historical account of Carlisle during the Civil War, and biographical, historical, and explanatory notes by the original publisher.
