A chronicle of Cox's experiences as a Peace Corps Volunteer in British Honduras (now Belize) during a pivotal period leading up to the country's independence. The memoir provides a detailed account of Cox's efforts to develop national physical education programs, train track and field coaches, officials, and athletes, and establish sports facilities across various villages and towns. Cox's service coincided with significant historical events, including the transition from colonial rule to self-governance and the looming threat of Guatemalan annexation. His work in promoting physical education and athletics was set against this backdrop of political change and natural challenges, such as seasonal hurricanes. The memoir also reflects on Cox's personal journey, including his prior Peace Corps service in Sierra Leone, which equipped him with valuable experience in teaching and organizing physical education. His time in Sierra Leone also exposed him to regional pidgin, which bore remarkable similarity to the Caribbean Creole of British Honduras, aiding his communication and integration into the local culture. With 291 historical photographs.
