Отбор произведений был подченен поэтому трем основным требованиям: охватить основные периоды русской истории XX века; представить наиболее заметных писательниц и поэтесс; дать по, возможности широкий охват тем — городской быт, службы, литературный мир, больница, деревня и т. д. Понятно, что всё это нужно было уместить в •относительно небольшой объем, что накладывало свои ограничения. Значение редких, трудных и жаргонных слов дастся в небольшом словаре, помещенном в конце антологии. [Translation] The compilers of this anthology first and foremost tried to take into account the needs and interests of students studying the Russian language and Russian culture. The selection of works was therefore subject to three main requirements: to cover the main periods of Russian history of the 20th century; to present the most notable female writers and poetesses; to provide as broad a coverage of topics as possible - urban life, services, the literary world, hospitals, villages, etc. It is clear that all this had to be contained in a relatively small volume, which imposed its own limitations. The meaning of rare, difficult and slang words will be given in a small dictionary placed at the end of the anthology.
