Condition & notes
In acceptable condition with a few small nicks and light creasing along edges. The red color from the front cover has bled along the edges and to the back cover. Light overall scuffing, aging and soiling to pages as well, but otherwise unmarked. Beautiful cover art by Andre De Takacs. An early composition of Edgar Leslie (1885 - 1976), an American songwriter who had immediate success with his first song, "Lonesome," in 1909. Leslie was a charter member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) in 1914 and served as its director from 1931 to 1941 and again from 1947 to 1953. Throughout his career, he collaborated with notable composers and lyricists, producing popular songs such as "For Me and My Gal," "Among My Souvenirs," and "Moon Over Miami." Andre De Takacs (1879/1880 - 1919) was an illustrator who immigrated from Budapest to the United States in 1901. De Takacs became established as an artist in New York, known for his work on sheet music covers, posters, postcards, and film company promotions. His illustrations often featured bold colors and he was able to create both realistic images as well as pleasingly abstract ones, which made him favorite in the Tin Pan Alley era.
