Born in the Pas-de-Calais region of France to a French mother and an English father, Robert (Bob) Tilbury quickly developed a passion for watercolour and drawing, as well as oil painting. After graduating as an electronics engineer in England, Tilbury left for the United States, where he stayed for seven years. He has been awarded various prizes throughout his artistic career, including first prize in the Saint-Malo competition, which he won in 2002, in the professional watercolour category. In 2008, the Societe academique Arts-Sciences-Lettres de Paris awarded him the gold medal. Since the mid-1970s, Tilbury has regularly presented his works in various exhibition venues in Switzerland, France, England and the USA. For the past forty years, he has been based in a former press house in Bole, where he gives classes.
