In acceptable condition. Illustrated paper covers have some light nicking to the bottom of the spine and along the edges. Light bumping and creasing to edges of covers and light overall scuffing, aging and soiling to covers as well. Binding is creased and brittle but all pages are still attached. Previous owner's name stamped on inside of front covers. Pages are quite browned with age, but otherwise unmarked. NOT Ex-Library. Nice cover art by Ed Emshwiller, a prominent illustrator in the science fiction realm of that era. A solid reading copy. Andre Norton, born Alice Mary Norton in 1912, assumed her renowned pseudonym in 1934 to better align with the expectations of a genre predominantly consumed by young males at the time. Over her prolific career, she published over 130 novels, receiving numerous accolades for her contributions to science fiction and fantasy. This particular edition credits Norton explicitly, alongside her pseudonyms "Andrew North" and "Allen Weston," highlighting her role in paving the way for female authors in speculative fiction. This edition is a standalone paperback that marks the inception of her "Solar Queen" series. [From first page] "WORLDS FOR SALE!" That was the startling cry that electrified Dane Thorson of the space-trader Solar Queen. It was his first trip and the cosmic auction was taking place at an isolated port of call, far out in the Milky Way.Who'll buy this newly discovered planet? The data on it sealed - you may be getting a radioactive desert, you may be buying a fabulous empire, or you may be stuck with an untracked unconquerable jungle! And Dane and his fellow spacemen took the risk. They bought a planet, sight unseen, whose ominous name was . . . Limbo! The story of Thorson's trip to Limbo, and the amazing adventures that befell him on that SARGASSO OF SPACE, is a real thriller of a space novel by the author of STAR GUARD, THE STARS ARE OURS, and many others.
