Turquoise or pyrite, agate or fossilised amber, nothing is too rare to decorate the creations of this unique company. Created in the 70s in Hong Kong, Kam Tin produced only a very few pieces before discontinuing production. When Philippe Rapin came across a turquoise chest the magic began to work again. The antique dealer from quai Voltaire fell in love with these treasures during a trip to Hong Kong and decided to relaunch the brand. His expertise in decorative arts, his penchant for eclecticism and his resolutely contemporary style gave birth to new collections. The first pieces to be exhibited, cabochons cabinets made of turquoise or amber, met with great interest from collectors. In October 2012, a turquoise sideboard was sold at Christie's for more than 200,000 US dollars. New creations followed, cloud tables in brass and copper, small bronze side tables decorated with turquoise or tiger eye marquetry, pyrite sideboards, amber cabinets, turquoise bedside tables and even magisterial brass chandeliers. So many single or limited editions pieces are made by the craftsmen-goldsmiths in Philippe Rapin's workshop in Germany. Today, Kam Tin is well-known at international fairs (Paris, London, New York, Hong Kong, Brussels, Geneva) and the major auction houses (Bonhams, Christie's, Sotheby's).
