Morrison Professor of Military History was established at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in 1974, and a distinguished historian has been selected every academic year to hold this chair. Professor Gerald F. Linderman is the fifteenth Morrison Professor. Linderman presented this talk to Command and General Staff Officer Course students on 4 October 1988. The unique relationship between military leadership and American soldiers is examined.
