Shuvaprasanna Bhattacharya, born in 1947 in Calcutta, is an influential Indian artist known for his expressionist style and symbolic works reflecting urban life, political unrest, and human emotions. A graduate of the Indian College of Art and Draftsmanship, his art often features dark tones and metaphors like crows, symbolizing societal decay. Shuvaprasanna's versatile oeuvre spans paintings, drawings, and prints, with subjects ranging from portraits to birds and clocks. He has exhibited widely in India and abroad, founded the College of Visual Arts in Kolkata, and remains a significant figure in India's cultural and political landscape.
