In good condition. Black and white pictorial paper covers have a few small nicks and tears and creasing along edges. Light to moderate overall aging, spotting and soiling to cover as well. Binding tight (staple bound). Pages lightly aged but otherwise clean and unmarked. NOT Ex-library. NO remainder marks. Catalog includes descriptions and asking prices for over 500 Sholder Arms (both sporting and martial), Single and Multi-shot Flintlock Pistols, Percussion Pistols, Revolving Pepperbox pistols, Remington, Colt and Smith and Wisson Pistols and Revolvers, oddities, signal pistols, blunderbus, bullet moulds, powder flasks, horns, shot pouches, accessories and other miscellaneous items, including handcuffs and vintage prints. Includes black and white photos of many of the items. James E. Serven (1900 - 1985), was a respected authority on firearms, ammunition, flasks, etc. He was the author of several books, including "Colt Firearms," "The Collecting of Guns," and "Americans and Their Guns." He also wrote more than 100 magazine articles on the history of weapons. [From page 2 of catalog] SEVERAL OUTSTANDING COLLECTIONS, including lhe Ludlow and Sedgeley Collections, and others I am not at liberty to mention, as well as desirable individual pieces acquired from Maine to Oregon, are herein listed. Everyone is familiar with the Philadelphia firm of Sedgeley, and knows the late Mr. Sedgeley's reputation for the finest in gun work. You will note that there are some reblued items listed, and I hope you will not confuse this with the ordinary field job. A Sedgeley refinishing job is famous for the clear, sharp lines and faithful restoration to a factory finish. Sedgeley's price (to others than the boss) on this work would be more than the total price I ask for most of the items.
