Of those 25, fifteen are illustrated and catalogued in depth in this book. [From Explanation on page 2] The present catalog is designed as both a companion to the exhibition American Case Furniture 1680 to 1840: Selections From the DAR Museum Collection and an introductory guide to case furniture in the museum collection. Case furniture illustrated and discussed here represents a small portion of the collection. For convenience to the reader pieces have been arranged chronologically. Furniture terms are illustrated in line drawings at the beginning of this catalog to serve as a guide. A checklist of case furniture featured in the exhibition is included at the end of this catalog.
