[From page v] One hundred years ago Nevada was our newest State, the 36th to enter the Union, her admission having been formally proclaimed by President Lincoln on October 31, 1864. This is the catalog of the centennial exhibition prepared by the Library of Congress in observance of the State's 100th anniversary. It describes rare books, broadsides, manuscripts, maps, newspapers, prints, and photographs selected from the Library's collections, together with manuscripts, original maps, drawings, and other materials on loan from the National Archives and photographs contributed by the Nevada Historical Society, Reno, Nevada. The booklet is the twenty-first in a series of catalogs of exhibitions commemorating significant anniversaries in the histories of the States and Territories of the United States. In presenting these exhibitions, the Library has endeavored to express the deep and genuine pride felt by the people of the States in their history and in their contributions to American life and culture.
