In acceptable condition. Blue illustrated paper covers have a few nicks and tears and creasing to edges of covers. Moderate overalls scuffing, aging and soiling to covers as well. Bottom of front covers has "Compliments of John Mulhern Company, San Francisco, California." Binding tight. Bottom half of entire text-block has pale-pink damp-staining. Otherwise pages are moderately aged but unmarked with occasional spotting and soiling. Not Ex-library. A solid reading copy. A century's-old glimpse at San Francisco. Published by the SF Chamber of Commerce with an obvious mandate to highlight its sophisticated culture, with copious literary references and name-dropping, booming business centers, and modern architecture (with most of the city having been wiped out by the earthquake and fire 18 years earlier). It's interesting to note that there is no mention yet of the Golden Gate Bridge which won't be started for another decade. Wonderful etchings throughout, most of which are signed by Francis Todhunter, a well-known painter, printmaker, and graphic artist.
