She studied at the Top Art School And Design Le Havre-Rouen and the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris. In 1972, she co-founded the comics publisher Futuropolis with her husband Etienne Robial. She is the creator of the humorous detective stories of Harry Mickson, which she published in the comics magazines L'Echo des savanes, Charlie Mensuel, Pilote and Ah ! Nana. In 2000, she was awarded the prestigious Grand Prix de la ville d'Angouleme, making her the first woman to win the prize. Cestac's work is known for its humor, its insights into human nature, and its distinctive visual style. She is one of the most important figures in French comics, and her work has been translated into many languages. The character of Edmond-Francois Ratier was first seen in the second series of Charlie-Mensuel. In "Ma vie set un roman policier," Ratier is one of the first uninhibited heroes of 80s comics, a character that pays homage to a certain idea of the French whodunnit of the 50s.
