Illustrated paper over boards. Covers are scuffed up and chipped around the edges with a 1/2" chip at the top of the spine and several, chips, nicks and fraying along the edges and corners. Moderate overall scuffing and light soiling to covers as well. Binding tight. Introduction letter form Velia Landolfi who represented Zito at the time is stapled to the front free end paper and her address stamp in on front paste down and title page with the copyright name inked out on title page as well. Pages are otherwise lightly aged but clean and unmarked. Rodolfo Zito (1924 - 1995) was born in Molochio, in the province of Reggio Calabria, in the deep south of Italy. He first became known for his frescoes in cathedrals throughout Italy. He exhibited his oil paintings for the first time in Rome in 1972 and quickly gained widespread public and critical acclaim. This monograph, published in 1972, was intended to introduce Zito to a broader international audience. By 1974, Zito was a world-renowned Italian painter and is now considered one of the masters of 20th century painting. This book includes several early examples of Zito's renowned paintings with horses. Includes 89 plates, 10 of which are in color. A nice collection of Zito's earlier works.
