In good condition/ NO dust jacket. Green cloth covered boards with black cloth on spine. Light bumping, scuffing, fading and soiling to edges of covers. Binding tight. Several pages are unopened (have not been separated from the adjacent pages). Previous ownrer's inscription dated 12/25/50 on front free end paper. Otherwise pages are lightly aged but unmarked. NOT Ex-Library. NO remainder marks. Illustrated. [From Foreword] The purpose of this little book is transparently simple. Since Christian Scientists have long profited by the spiritual inspiration found in Mr. Joseph Armstrong's "The Mother Church," it has been felt that one day there should be a companion volume dealing with its Extension. Hence the request of the Board of Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society that such a book be prepared. The author is well aware that probably no one today, certainly not herself, is in a position to bring to this task the comprehension which Mr. Armstrong brought to his; for Mr. Armstrong was himself intimately concerned with the struggles and the triumphs encountered by that small band of Mrs. Eddy's followers engaged in the erection of the Original Church. When the Extension was under consideration, all the attendant circumstances were vastly altered. By this time, there were many more students to support the activities of those who directed the momentous task. According to her own highest light, the author has described the progress of events - from the moment when it was resolved to build the Extension, through the months of its erection, on to the "crowning glory" of its completion and dedication. The mere contemplation of the accomplishment of this mighty task, carried out under Mrs. Eddy's guidance and in the light of spiritual understanding, cannot but be fraught with profound import of all Christian Scientists.
