Description

The Folio Society, 1975, Hardcover, 212 pp. Essays Selected and Introduced by Rosalind Vallance. This book is primarily about Dickens' travels in Italy, but also has chapters on Paris and Switzerland as they were between 1837 and 1865, written at different times during Dickens’ several European journeys. Includes his experiences crossing the Channel for the first time on the Calais Night Mail in 1837, as well as his description of crossing the St.Gothard pass from Italy to Switzerland. Includes map endpapers, 14 contemporary black & white illustrations. VVery good in very good slip case. Tan illustrated cloth covered boards have light scuffing to edges. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. Slip case has light overall scuffing and some fading and faint soiling to edges. NOT Ex-Library. NO remainder marks.
