Description

M. Witmark & Sons, New York, Chicago [Published Date: 1895]. Sheet music, arranged for piano. Folio, 8 pages (including front and rear cover). No lyrics. "Respectfully dedicated to Mr. E.H. Southern [i.e. Sothern], and played during the engagement of his successful play 'The prisoner of Zenda'" on cover. Illustrated cover with blue/white/brown; drawing of a castle and shield; photo. of E.H. Sothern. Rear cover has advertisement for six "novelties for Piano" by Geo. J. Trinkaus. The prisoner of Zenda with E.H. Sothern opened at the Lyceum Theatre in New York City on September 4, 1895 (information from IBDB.com).

Condition & notes

In acceptable condition with several small nicks and tears along edges. Covers starting to split along folded seam, but still attached. Moderate overall aging, scuffing and soiling. Previous owner's name in pencil at top of front cover and date on top corner of back cover. Interior pages unmarked. "Southern California Music Co. address stamped on bottom of front cover.
