Description

Ingpen and Stonehill, Booksellers Catalogue New Series, No. 7, 1928. Paper covers, 72 pp. Descriptions and asking prices for 765 works "illustrating the history of the English Novel, Tale and Prose Romance, 1600 - 1850. Includes a Foreword discussing the importance of the minor novel of the eighteenth century and its growth and influence on the major productions. In acceptable+ condition. Brown paper covers have a few small nicks and tears along edges and light creasing down the middle. Moderate overall scuffing, aging and soiling to covers as well. Binding tight (staple bound). Pages lightly aged but otherwise unmarked with occasional light spotting and soiling. NOT Ex-Library. [From last paragraph of Foreword] The history of the novel remains to be written, and in many volumes. It would be gratifying, therefore, to see at least a large proportion of these books, which have taken a considerable time to collect, find a permanent home in one of the Public or University Libraries, where they would be accessible to scholars.
