In acceptable condition. Black and white illustrated paper covers have light bumping and creasing to edges and corners and light overall scuffing, aging and soiling. Binding tight (staple bound). Usual library and ex-library markings including call nubmers and translation notes . Otherwise pages are lightly. A good reading copy. Gorbatov Arkady Evgenievich (1937-2006) was born in Ufa. In 1959 he graduated from art school in the city of Alma-Ata. Evgenievich's early works mainly focused on the study of the steppe expanses of Northern and Central Kazakhstan. In the first years of his wanderings, the artist wrote "historical" landscapes. His interest in the ancient culture of man, ranging from the Paleolithic and ending with the late Middle Ages, determined his work, and was the future focus of his paintings. Gorbatov, an art-researcher and art- historian, was the first in Kazakhstan to turn to the art of the ancients, having distinguished himself in the study of stone sculptures, rock paintings, mausoleums, mosques and other monuments of the past, real cultural values. Since 1957, the artist participated in republican and all-Union exhibitions and there were also personal exhibitions. Gorbatov's legacy includes more than 1,000 works, many of which are acquired by museums of the city of Almaty (Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Museum of History of Almaty), Atyrau, Balkhash, Arkalyk, the Moravian Museum of Man in Brno, as well as private collectors of Russia, France, Germany, USA Turkey and China.
